AdBlue Contamination

All around Tyne and Wear we have seen a lot more examples of AdBlue contamination whereby an individual has poured AdBlue inside their diesel tank. This is partially as a result of people not being aware of the way to work with it (be aware: it is not a fuel additive), and partly due to the fact that the filler necks for diesel and AdBlue are generally right close to each other on the car.

Well, exactly what is the problem with putting AdBlue in your diesel vehicle? Since AdBlue is predominantly deionised water, it's just like pouring water in your tank. Diesel and water tend not to mix in any way and trying to run a diesel car on water will not work. Apart from this, the urea is seriously corrosive to your fuel system pipes and seals and is prone to crystallisation, damaging injectors and fuel filters.

If perhaps you poured AdBlue into the fuel tank get it out as soon as possible. And of course don't turn over the vehicle - not even to relocate it to a parking area. If perhaps you have started the car you will most likely need to have the complete fuel system purged and fuel filters replaced.
